Good Night, and Good Luck

1.What do you learn from the opening scene about the era when this movie takes place? What are your clues? You can tell what era this movie is in due to the music that is playing and the look of the room that they are in.

     3. In the opening and again throughout the movie, what part does the music play? It plays in parts that do not have a lot of things going on whether its them riding in the elevator or dancing at a party but when the music plays you know nothing major is going to happen

4. What do you know about Edward R. Murrow before he even says a word? You know that he is running up against Senator Joseph McCarthy.

5. One of the lines in his speech is, “Our history will be what we make it.” How does this relate to the people to whom he is speaking? He is talking to the people that will vote for him so he said it to make them feel like he is going to do something that is going to change history and be big and he is worth voting for.

7. What do you think it was like to work in the news department of CBS in the 1950s? What are some of the scenes that show this? It looks like it was a very tense place to be and a lot of things going on and a lot of thing going on. Such as when the editor is talking to the military colonel and it gets a little heated.

  1. For #4, I don't think at that point you know much about the McCarthy thing. This was as he was going to speak at the podium and the introduction talks about him.
